A 39-year-old casual labourer was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act here on Monday.
P. Siva, a resident of Villupuram district, was arrested by the Sooramangalam All Women’s Police in 2017 for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl. He came out on bail and went into hiding for the past nine years. However, he was arrested in May this year, and remanded in prison.
