Police said Rajini, 40, belonged to Mulaikulam near Sivaganga. He had been staying with his family in the Koothandam area and was engaged in ghee business.
He had gone out on Saturday night and did not return home. On early Sunday morning, he was found murdered with his throat slit in the eucalyptus grove near the Annamalai Nagar bypass road.
The Sivaganga Taluk police recovered the body and sent it to the Sivaganga Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
