Man drowns in the Cauvery at Mukkombu, another missing

A 20-year-old man drowned in the Cauvery at Mukkombu near Tiruchi on Sunday. The body of Parthasarathy of Murungapettai near Jeeyapuram was retrieved later from the river by the firefighters and sent for autopsy to the Srirangam Government Hospital.

Another person aged around 18, who ventured into the river along with Parthasarathy, was washed away. Efforts to trace him were given up in the evening due to poor visibility, said police sources. The Vathalai police are investigating.
