A domestic conflict between a man and his wife in Mataki Tanda in the Aland taluk, Kalaburagi district, took a tragic turn on Tuesday when he allegedly strapped quarrying explosives around his waist and detonated them in an attempt to kill his wife.
The blast resulted in the immediate death of the man and his 15-year-old daughter, while four others sustained injuries, according to sources.
The deceased have been identified as Shivalal, 49, and his daughter Meera. The critically injured victims include Shivalal’s wife, Savita Shivalal Rathod, 40, his son, Prakash Shivalal Rathod, 19, and relatives Surekha Chavan, 30, and her son, Vivek Chavan, 12.
The injured have been shifted to the Kalaburagi District Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. According to local sources, Shivalal and his wife used to engage in frequent, heated arguments over domestic issues, which likely led to the tragic escalation.
