A 56-year-old man was killed after a tempo carrying iron pipes overturned on him while he was taking a U-turn on his scooter beneath the Balanagar flyover on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Prakash Pawar, 56, a resident of Shahpur Nagar, who operated a gold-melting shop in Ameerpet.
According to the police, Pawar had left home for work and was travelling on his scooter around 2.30 p.m. When he was taking a U-turn beneath the Balanagar flyover, a tempo transporting iron pipes overturned, killing him.
