A special court for POCSO Act cases on Thursday convicted a man for raping and threatening a minor girl in Thiruverkadu.
According to police, the case dates back to August 22, 2022, when a 13-year-old girl went missing from her home within the jurisdiction of Thiruverkadu police station. During the investigation, police found the accused Nandakumar had repeatedly threatened the girl and sexually assaulted her. The girl later wrote a letter and attempted to leave home, prompting her parents to approach the police.
Nandakumar was arrested and booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
