Man collecting birthday cake hit by SUV in Greater Noida, suffers spine fracture

NOIDA: A 32-year-old man suffered several fractures in a hit-and-run accident at Ek Murti Chowk in Greater Noida earlier this month. A video of the accident recorded by a rear-view camera of a car shows that the collision impact flung the man into the air.Police have arrested the driver, a 24-year-old management student, on Sept 14 and impounded the car.According to a complaint filed by the victim, Himanshu Rai, at the Bisrakh police station, the accident took place at around 4.35 am on Sept 5. He told the cops, “It was my birthday, so after work my wife and I had gone out.”He collected a pre-ordered cake from a bakery and was crossing the road at the chowk when a white SUV, driven at high speed, rammed him.“The car hit me at what appeared to be a speed of over 100 km per hour and drove away.
