A 32-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death in Padappai, with two persons later surrendering at the Somangalam police station in connection with the crime.
The deceased, identified as Rajesh, was a resident of Sethupattu, near Somangalam, in Sriperumbudur taluk of Kancheepuram district. He worked at a meat shop in the locality. According to the police, Thangam and Anandajothi from the same locality arrived at Rajesh’s house in a car on Wednesday night. They allegedly persuaded him to accompany them for drinks. Rajesh did not return home that night, prompting his family members to search for him.
On Thursday, Thangam and Anandajothi appeared before the Somangalam police and allegedly confessed that they had beaten Rajesh to death while they were intoxicated. The police immediately detained the duo and questioned them.
