A man was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act here on Wednesday (June 10, 2026). According to the police, E. Karuppan (28), a resident of Thandrampattu in Tiruvannamalai district, is a casual labour. He befriended a Class XII student (17), a resident in Rasipuram in the Namakkal district, through social media. Police said that on June 8, he came to Rasipuram and took the girl to Tiruvannamalai on a two-wheeler, and sexually assaulted her. The girl later returned home and revealed the incident to her parents. They lodged a complaint with the Rasipuram All Women’s Police. The police registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested Karuppan. He was remanded in prison.
