Man arrested for theft, valuables worth over ₹1.02 crore recovered

Police in Shivamogga have arrested a man for a major theft and recovered valuables worth over ₹1.02 crore, including gold and cash. The suspect was traced to Devanahalli after allegedly robbing the home of two government officials.

The Kote police in Shivamogga have cracked the theft case reported in Vidya Nagara in the city and recovered valuables worth over ₹1.02 crore from the accused.
The police identified the accused as Mohammed Rafeeq, a native of Hagaribommanahalli in Vijayanagara district. He allegedly entered the house of a couple, both Panchayat Development Officers, during the day on August 28 and fled with valuables.
The police registered a case and, working on the clues available, traced him to Devanahalli near Bengaluru. They recovered 558 grams of gold jewellery and ₹20 lakh in cash from him.
