A 50-year-old man was arrested on charges of sexually harassing a 21-year-old woman aboard the Mysuru-Thoothukudi Express.
The woman, a native of Madurai district, was travelling to Madurai in a reserved coach of the train on Wednesday (September 16, 2026). According to the police, the train was passing Erode in the early hours of Wednesday when the man, who was travelling on the berth above the woman’s, allegedly sexually harassed her. The woman raised an alarm, following which fellow passengers caught the man and handed him over to the railway police at Karur.
Based on her complaint, the police conducted an inquiry. As the incident had occurred within the jurisdiction of the Erode railway police, the man was brought to Erode for further investigation.
