A man in Uttar Kannada has been arrested for the murder of his wife after initially claiming she died of a heart attack. Police investigation revealed he strangled her following a domestic dispute.

The police have arrested a man on the charge of killing his 27-year-old wife in Manki village of Uttar Kannada.
Manjunath Naik quarrelled with his wife Mangala over a trivial matter. He strangled her while she was sleeping and falsely claimed that she died of a heart attack, the police said.
He called her parents to say that she died on the way to hospital. However, they suspected him and called the police.
In a complaint, they said that he used to regularly assault her under the influence of alcohol.
