A total of 523 buildings flagged by the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) have been sealed for violating fire safety norms and building by-laws following the June 3 blaze in a bed-and-breakfast (B&B) facility in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, which caused the death of 23 people, an official said on Tuesday.
Thirteen district-level and 39 subdivision-level committees were constituted following the tragedy at Flourish Stay B&B to carry out a citywide survey of illegal buildings and establishments.
Of the 680 buildings inspected till Tuesday, 157 were exempt from obtaining a no-objection certificate (NOC) under Rule 27 of the Delhi Fire Service Rules, 2010, and the Unified Building Bye Laws for Delhi, 2016, an official said.
