PETALING JAYA: Malaysians in Jakarta have been advised to remain calm and follow official updates from local authorities following a magnitude 6.5 earthquake.
Sinar Harian reported that the tremor was felt in Jakarta and parts of Java and Sumatra.
The Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta said Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) recorded the tremor at 4.23am local time.
Its epicentre was about 6km east of the Thousand Islands.
