MALAWI: Eucharist, Source of Unity with Christ and Community: Archbishop at Eucharistic Congress

Thousands of Catholic faithful, priests, and religious sisters gathered at Mary Queen of All Hearts Cathedral in the Archdiocese of Blantyre, Malawi, for the Eucharistic Congress from 27th to 29 th August 2026.
Launching the second Congress on Thursday, August 27, Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa highlighted the centrality of the Eucharist in the life of Catholics. “We have gathered here to show our love for Christ, deepen our understanding of His real presence in the Eucharist, and show the world what we believe through a procession in the City.”
He continued, “The Eucharist is a mystery in which we become united with Christ, our Lord. Besides, it is also the Sacrament which makes us one community.
