Malappuram launches State’s first digital platform for differently abled

Malappuram has launched Kerala’s first comprehensive digital platform for persons with disabilities. The platform will create a database of beneficiaries, improve service delivery, and help the authorities plan welfare programmes based on accurate information.
District panchayat president P.A. Jabbar Haji inaugurated the ‘M Sahajeevanam’ web portal on Monday (July 20). The platform was developed jointly by the Malappuram district administration and the Department of Social Justice. District Collector Vinay Goyal presided over the function.
“We have designed the portal in such a way that it can be adopted by other districts in the State,” said District Social Justice Officer Sameer Machingal.
Through M Sahajeevanam, local self-government institutions will collect and maintain details of persons with disabilities in the district.
The digital platform will include information on the type of disability, physical and social conditions, family background, education, employment, skills, and the services required by individuals.
