Makinde transfers power to deputy governor as Oyo Assembly approves annual leave
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has received approval from the State House of Assembly to take his annual leave from August 10 to September 11. During this period, Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal will oversee the state's administration.

The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved the request of Gov. Seyi Makinde to proceed on his annual leave to start on Aug. 10. The request letter, which was read to the Assembly during plenary on Thursday, also informed the lawmakers that in Makinde’s absence his Deputy, Mr Bayo Lawal, would oversee the affairs of the state. The Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr Muhammed Fadeyi, who presided over the plenary in the absence of the Speaker, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin, read the governor’s letter before members. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor’s leave takes effect from Aug. 10 to Sept. 11., he will officially resume office on Sept. 14.
