Make energy and water conservation part of daily life, says Special Chief Secretary Vijayanand

Andhra Pradesh officials are urging citizens to adopt energy and water conservation practices to combat the impacts of climate change and extreme weather. The state government is collaborating with national energy agencies to promote sustainability and resource efficiency.
Why it matters
Proactive state-level environmental policies are essential for mitigating the economic and agricultural risks posed by global climate change.
The Andhra Pradesh government called for collective responsibility and large-scale public participation in energy and water conservation, renewable energy adoption and environmental protection to mitigate the impact of super El Niño and climate change.
Reaffirming the State’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the protection of natural resources, K. Vijayanand, Special Chief Secretary (Energy), called for a nationwide movement towards energy efficiency, water conservation and sustainable development.
Given the effects of extreme climatic conditions on agriculture, industry, energy demand and the overall economy, every citizen should make energy and water conservation an integral part of daily life, he said in an online interaction with Akhilesh Kumar Dixit, CEO of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).
