A major fire broke out at a sawmill and the godown attached to it in Dindigul in the early hours on Monday. Teak wood and machinery worth several lakhs were destroyed.
According to police, the fire broke out at around 3 a.m.. On receiving the information, two fire tenders rushed to the spot. By the time the fire tenders arrived, the fire had spread rapidly and destroyed the materials stored in the sawmill and the godown. The fire was put out by Fire and Rescue Services personnel after around two hours.
