Mahindra Thar OG review: The Thar gets more comfortable without losing its off-road DNA

The new Mahindra Thar OG retains its iconic three-door design while introducing significant mechanical upgrades, including a new platform, improved suspension technology, and increased ground clearance. These changes aim to enhance ride comfort and stability without compromising the vehicle's off-road capabilities.
Why it matters
The update reflects the automotive industry's focus on balancing traditional rugged design with modern engineering to improve daily usability.
The Thar OG retains the unmistakable silhouette that has become synonymous with the name, but there are enough changes to make the latest version distinguishable from its predecessor. The front gets a redesigned grille, revised bumpers and new LED headlamps with C-shaped daytime running lamps, while the side gets revised body cladding and new 19-inch alloy wheels on the higher variants. At the rear, new C-shaped LED tail-lamps and a revised bumper complete the visual changes. Mahindra has resisted the temptation to make the OG look like a smaller Thar Roxx, and that is important because the three-door’s compact proportions and upright stance remain central to its appeal.
