Madurai teacher bags National Teachers Award 2026
Two educators from Tamil Nadu, M. Thanga Raj and J. Amutha, have been selected for the National Teachers Award 2026. The awards will be presented by the President on National Teachers Day to recognize their contributions to the field of education.

M. Thanga Raj, a teacher at Puliyampatti Panchayat Union Primary School in Erode district, and J. Amutha, headmistress of PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya-2, Thirupparankundram, Madurai, have been selected for National Teachers Awards 2026,
In view of National Teachers Day on September 5, 48 teachers have been selected by the Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy for the award, which is presented by the President.
Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has extended his congratulations and appreciation to both of them.
Ms. Amudha hails from Thabal Thanthi (P&T) Nagar area in Madurai. She has been in the teaching profession for 22 years. Having worked as a teacher for nine years, she is now the headmistress at the PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya school in Thirupparankundram.
