Madurai RTO office comes under DVAC scanner
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) raided the Madurai Regional Transport Office, seizing significant amounts of cash from brokers. Officials are investigating potential bribery involving department staff.

The officers attached to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) raided the premises of the Regional Transport Office (South), Madurai, and seized ₹1.80 lakh from “brokers” on Wednesday.
Sources said following specific inputs, the DVAC officials, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Sathyaseelan and Inspectors Jayaprabha, Ramesh Prabhu and Kumaraguru, conducted the raid from 3 p.m.. They seized ₹60,200 from Kani, who introduced himself as a broker. The DVAC team also seized ₹79,000 from Mariskumar, and the remaining amount as unclaimed money.
RTO (South) Karthikeyan was also interrogated by the officials. Preliminary inquiries and confession by some of the brokers suggested that they had collected the money from the public for getting various services done in the RTO office and the money was meant for select officers in the department.
