Madlanga Commission hears details of taxi boss Sibanyoni's meeting with Ramaphosa

The Madlanga Commission is investigating allegations of interference by a taxi boss in the operations of the bus company Putco. Testimony revealed hundreds of incidents where taxi drivers blocked buses, raising questions about the relationship between transport stakeholders and political figures.
Why it matters
The investigation highlights issues of corruption and organized interference in public transport infrastructure in South Africa.
In the footage, Sibanyoni is seen discussing a local stake in the operations of bus company Putco.
"Please assist us. When you find someone wanting to interfere with the Putco business, you must throw it, assist us. Don't put the wrong thing. Assist us as, how do we get into this space?" Sibanyoni said.
Sibanyoni told the commission he was also seeking a subcontract for two entities, although he declined to identify the second business.
He also denied telling the president he would interfere in Putco's business operations.
