Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa, who paid a surprise visit to McGann Hospital, a teaching hospital in Shivamogga, on Friday, assured the staff that funds required to procure equipment for the hospital’s modular operation theatres would be provided.
Mr. Bangarappa, who is also the Minister in-charge of the district, visited the hospital and reviewed the functioning of the cardiac care centre during his district tour. He interacted with the staff and teaching faculty, besides the patients.
K. Ramesh Babu, Dean of the Shivamogga Institute of Medical Sciences, informed the Minister that ₹6 crore was required to procure the pending equipment for the four modular operation theatres. He also highlighted the shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff.
