'Made in Africa!' billing to be tagged on all products manufactured on the continent

Professor Douglas K. Boateng advocates for a 'MADE IN AFRICA' label on all products manufactured on the continent to foster economic strength and job creation. He will present this vision at the African Supply Chain Confederation (ASCON) 2026 Conference in Zambia, emphasizing that national pride and Pan-African economic identity should reinforce each other. This initiative aims to promote intra-African trade and global recognition of African goods.
Why it matters
This initiative aims to boost continental economic strength, create jobs, and promote a unified Pan-African identity for goods, potentially leading to significant economic growth and industrialization across Africa.
Africa must produce more of what it consumes, buy more of what it manufactures and proudly take its own goods to the world if the continent wants to create jobs and build lasting economic strength.
That is what Professor Douglas K. Boateng, Goodwill Ambassador Extraordinaire for the African Supply Chain Confederation (ASCON), plans to tell the supply chain leaders gathering in Zambia this month.
Professor Boateng will deliver the keynote address at the African Supply Chain Confederation (ASCON) 2026 Conference at what is expected to be this year’s largest continental gathering focused on supply chains and industrialization, bringing together procurement professionals, policymakers, corporate executives, academics and decision makers from across Africa.
Entitled “Breaking Down Barriers Through Made in Africa,” Professor Boateng says his keynote will focus on why it’s vital that the continent own its own products.
