Mackenzie Scott recently set a new milestone in her philanthropy by donating more than $1 billion to historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) so far. One of the notable donations made by the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has helped abolish $40 billion in medical debt across 50 US states. Mackenzie Scott, who has sold more than half of her Amazon shares, gave $50 million to Undue Medical Debt—then known as RIP Medical Debt in 2020. This was followed by $30 million in 2022, and a rare third donation in December 2024.
