PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested a former minister in connection with its investigation into the issues raised by the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on Tabung Haji (TH).
The suspect, believed to be in his 60s was arrested at about 4.30pm today while at MACC's headquarters in Putrajaya to give a statement.
According to a post on the MACC's TikTok account, the arrest was linked to an issue involving a hotel lease agreement in Saudi Arabia.
MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrest when contacted, saying the case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
The suspect is expected to be brought before the Putrajaya magistrates' court tomorrow for a remand application.
