M.K. Stalin says CM Vijay must visit local grocery shops to understand price rise
DMK president M.K. Stalin has criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for his recent travels, urging him to focus on local markets to address rising commodity prices. Stalin claims that the public is experiencing significant economic anxiety despite government assurances.
Why it matters
This reflects ongoing political friction in Tamil Nadu regarding economic management and the accountability of state leadership during inflationary periods.
DMK president M.K. Stalin on Thursday (October 15, 2026) said Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, who had been visiting London, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, should also visit local markets and grocery shops to understand the rise in the prices of essential commodities.
“Please do not ask the Food Minister. He will say everything is normal,” Mr. Stalin said in a social media post.
He said people, instead of being in a festive mood, were gripped by fear over the rising prices.
