LPA enters PAR today, may become cyclone
A low-pressure area is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility and may develop into a tropical cyclone named Kiyapo. The weather disturbance is expected to bring rain to parts of the archipelago by the weekend.

MANILA, Philippines - A low-pressure area (LPA) is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) today and may develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA said that as of 4 p.m. yesterday, the LPA was located at 1,505 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.
Once the weather disturbance develops into a tropical cyclone, it will be given the name Kiyapo.
Kiyapo will be the 11th tropical cyclone to enter PAR this year and the fourth this month.
Earlier, PAGASA said the LPA was expected to enter PAR between yesterday afternoon and this morning.
The country has yet to feel the effects of the LPA, which is expected to bring rain as it approaches the northern portion of the archipelago by weekend.
