Lowry links up with McIlroy in first ever TGL trade

Golfer Shane Lowry has transferred from The Bay Golf Club to Boston Common Golf in the first trade in TMRW Golf League history. The move reunites Lowry with Rory McIlroy ahead of the 2027 season.
Why it matters
This trade marks a significant milestone in the evolution of team-based professional golf leagues and roster management.
Shane Lowry has moved from The Bay Golf Club to Boston Common Golf in the first trade in TMRW Golf League (TGL) history.
Lowry, winner of the Open Championship in 2019 and this year's Irish Open, joins good friend Rory McIlroy in Boston's lineup.
In exchange, The Bay acquired Boston's fourth selection to fill their open roster slot this season. The Bay also receives one future selection over the next three offseasons plus additional "commercial considerations," the league said.
The move comes as TGL expands to five-player rosters for the 2027 season.
Boston Common opens the season on 2 January against Los Angeles Golf Club.
"I'm delighted to be joining Boston Common Golf," said Lowry.
"Having Rory alongside me and being part of this group makes it particularly exciting, and I'm looking forward to helping the team bring a championship to Boston."
