Low-pressure system causes rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, IMD issues alerts
A low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal has caused isolated rainfall across Andhra Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and strong winds until August 28.

The low-pressure system formed in the Bay of Bengal on Sunday (August 23, 2026) has brought isolated rainfall to many stations across the State on Monday (August 24).
Earlier, a yellow alert was in place for the North Coastal A.P. on Monday. But, the rainfall activity was not confined to NCAP alone. As of 5 p.m., Sathivada in Vizianagaram district received the day’s highest of 49.5 mm, followed by Anantapur city that received 22.51 mm, Roddam in Sri Sathya Sai district received 21.54 mm, Utukuru in NTR district-20.75 mm, Patha Kopperla in Vizianagaram-15.5 mm, Polavaram-15.37 mm, Dodagatta in Sri Sathya Sai-15.23 mm. The remaining places recorded light showers of below 15 mm.
