Low pressure brings good rainfall to coastal A.P.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh, including Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, experienced heavy rainfall due to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. The rain provided relief from a prolonged dry spell, though it caused localized water-logging and traffic disruptions.

People in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam woke up to the sounds of thunderstorms as very heavy rain pounded the city on Saturday (September 12).
Many low-lying areas, inlcuding the Pandit Nehru Bus Station area, were water-logged. Traffic jams were reported from major junctions, including Benz Circle and NTR Circle, where vehicles were halted for nearly an hour. While there was no flooding in Visahapatnam, the drizzle had been steady with intermittent moderate rainfall. The rain has brought much relief to the denizens, as there was a substantial drop in temperature, after a prolonged dry and hot spell.
According to realtime data provided by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics(DES), Gunadala station of Vijayawada North received 46.5 mm between 8.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Vijayawada Central received 14 mm. This is the first time this season that the city received such heavy rainfall.
