Lotto: $10 million up for grabs in ‘must be won’ draw tonight ahead of new 14
Lotto NZ is holding a final $10 million 'must be won' draw before transitioning to a new 14-ball Powerball format. The change aims to increase prize pools but will also make winning odds more difficult.

It’s the end of an era for Lotto tonight with a $10 million “must be won” draw to mark the occasion, before Powerball is overhauled overnight.
From next Wednesday, Powerballs increase from 10 to 14, meaning bigger prizes but harder odds .
MyLotto will shut down this evening to prepare for the change, and Lotto NZ says players should plan ahead if they want to check their Powerball ticket after the draw.
Lotto NZ head of corporate communications Will Hine said, “as soon as ticket sales close at 7.30pm tonight we’ll be swinging into action to update MyLotto overnight so it’s ready for players to buy tickets for 14-ball Powerball from tomorrow”.
“With the ticket checker unavailable, MyLotto players may wish to take a screenshot of their ticket or write down the numbers on a piece of paper before the draw.
