Lorry owners of A.P., Telangana seek resolution of long-pending issues

Lorry owners' associations from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have petitioned the Telangana Transport Minister to resolve a 12-year-old issue regarding inter-state counter-signature permits. The resolution is expected to streamline goods transport and provide relief to the logistics sector.
Why it matters
Resolving long-standing bureaucratic hurdles between states is essential for improving regional economic efficiency and logistics.
Representatives of the lorry owners’ associations from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana submitted a representation to Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar in Hyderabad on Saturday, urging him to resolve the long-pending matter of issuing counter-signature permits for goods transport vehicles operating between the two States.
The representatives said the issue had remained unresolved since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, causing difficulties for lorry owners in both States. They urged the Transport Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to hold discussions and coordinate efforts to find an early solution.
Resolving the issue, which had been pending for nearly 12 years, would provide considerable relief for lorry owners and facilitate the smooth movement of goods between the two States, they said.
