A lorry driver from Kerala was abducted and robbed of ₹50,000 by a gang near Mettur, Tamil Nadu. In a separate incident, a local resident was also attacked and robbed of jewelry in the same district.

A lorry driver from Keralam was attacked and robbed of cash near Mettur in Salem district on Tuesday night.
According to police, Ali (51), a lorry driver from Nilambur in Keralam, was taking his lorry to a workshop in Mettur for repairs on Tuesday night. At Navapatti, two persons on a motorcycle stopped his lorry, attacked him, and abducted him. They took him to the Madaiyankuttai burial ground and, along with two more persons, assaulted him further and tied him up.
The gang robbed him of ₹50,000 cash and left. Later, Ali managed to untie himself, and passersby admitted him to the Government Hospital in Mettur. The Mettur police registered a case and are on the lookout for the culprits.
