Lord Malayappa Swamy appeared as Dwaraka Krishna atop the five-hooded Chinna Sesha Vahanam on Tuesday morning, marking the second day of the annual Navaratri Brahmotsavams at Tirumala.
Cultural troupes showcase their artistry during the Chinna Sesha Vahanam procession on the second day of the Navaratri Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala.
Adorned in resplendent finery, the processional deity captivated thousands of devotees who thronged the four Mada streets to witness the procession. The streets reverberated with chants of “Govinda, Govinda”, while auspicious musical ensembles, rhythmic Kolatam performances and colourful presentations by cultural troupes added to the devotional fervour. Elephants and horses led the procession, enhancing its ceremonial grandeur.
Rooted in Vaishnavite philosophy, the Chinna Sesha Vahanam embodies the concept of the divine as ‘Sheshi’, the supreme being who sustains all existence, with the universe regarded as Shesha. Symbolising the serpent king Vasuki, the vahanam signifies this theological belief.
