Lokayukta orders probe into irregularities in distribution of essential commidities under Public Distribution System

The Karnataka Lokayukta has ordered an inquiry into alleged irregularities within the Public Distribution System following inspections of wholesale depots. A high-level committee has been formed to recommend systemic reforms and disciplinary actions by August 20.
The Lokayukta has initiated a suo motu inquiry into alleged irregularities in the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department and the Karnataka State Co-operative Food and Civil Supplies Corporation (KSCFCSC), following inspections that uncovered multiple instances of alleged malpractice in the State’s Public Distribution System (PDS).
