Lokayukta court sentences former sub-tahsildar to 4 years for taking bribe
A former sub-tahsildar in Karnataka has been sentenced to four years in prison for accepting a bribe to process a disability pension application in 2017. The conviction follows a successful trap operation conducted by the Lokayukta.

The 1st Additional District and Sessions and Special Court in Shivamogga on Tuesday sentenced a former sub-tahsildar to four years in prison and imposed a fine of ₹40,000 for accepting a bribe from a farmer seeking disability pension for his father.
The accused, Pushpalatha, then sub-tahsildar at the Nadakacheri in Kallihal, Holehonnur hobli, Bhadravati taluk, was convicted in a Lokayukta trap case registered in 2017.
According to the Karnataka Lokayukta, complainant Gireesh, 33, farmer from D.B. Halli in Bhadravati taluk, had approached Pushpalatha after obtaining a medical certificate stating that his father Parameshwarappa was speech and hearing impaired. He sought assistance in obtaining disability pension for his father.
The official allegedly demanded ₹10,000 as bribe for processing the pension. On September 21, 2017, the Lokayukta officials trapped Pushpalatha while she was allegedly accepting ₹5,000 from Gireesh at the Bhadravati taluk office.
