Prison inmate Shu Man Poon, 45, has spent three days in the witness box in the High Court at Auckland jury trial of his former co-defendant, 29-year-old Lok Fung Lorrence Li.
When asked today whether he believed Li was primarily responsible for the November 2023 stabbing and head stomping deaths of surgical theatre nurse Fuk-Fu Joseph Kwok, 66, and 67-year-old wife Mei Han Chong, Poon replied: “Um, yes.”
Defence lawyer Paul Dacre, KC, then suggested to Poon that he had slashed Kwok’s throat with a tomahawk that Poon had purchased and sharpened with a grinder he kept in his Glenfield flat.
