LJP (Ramvilas) slams denial of hospital care to pregnant tribal woman in U.P.’s Bhadohi

The LJP (Ramvilas) party has criticized the Uttar Pradesh administration after a pregnant tribal woman was denied hospital care and forced to deliver on the roadside. An inquiry has confirmed negligence by hospital staff.
Why it matters
The incident underscores systemic issues in public healthcare access and the treatment of marginalized communities in India.
The Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) on Saturday (October 3, 2026) decried the local administration over the denial of admission to a pregnant tribal woman at the district hospital in Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh , forcing her to deliver the baby on a roadside.
The incident was not a "lapse" but a "catastrophic failure of governance," the party, founded by the late Ram Vilas Paswan, a Dalit, said.
Rani Vanvasi, 20, was allegedly denied admission to Maharaja Chet Singh Government District Hospital on Monday (September 28) by the doctors, who said she was anaemic and there was no blood.
However, Ms. Rani's family alleged that doctors and a staff nurse refused to attend to her because she belongs to the Musahar tribal community.
Ms. Rani eventually delivered the baby out in the open on Tuesday night (September 29) with the help of women accompanying her.
