Liverpool make contact with African star as massive move ramps up

Liverpool FC is reportedly planning significant transfer activity for the upcoming window as part of a long-term squad rebuilding project. The club is targeting new talent to transition away from the core of the previous Jurgen Klopp era.
Why it matters
As a major Premier League club, Liverpool's transfer strategy significantly impacts the competitive landscape of European football.
Liverpool are already planning big things for the next transfer window.
Considering they spent £123m on one player, it is strange to say that the Reds kept their powder relatively dry over the course of the summer.
But that is largely the case. Apart from the big money arrival of Bradley Barcola, Liverpool only recruited Ronald Araujo on loan and brought in Victor Munoz.
With Andoni Iraola coming in, it made no sense to completely change the squad around. Considering managerial changes were already happening, Liverpool needed a bit more continuity on the pitch.
The Reds also need to give time for their big money signings from the summer of 2025 to settle and for them to flourish.
It's also important to note that this is a long-term project at Anfield. Liverpool have experienced a changing of the guard recently epitomised by the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
