The transfer window shut this week and Liverpool ended it with a squad that quite clearly requires work. Work that really should have happened during the transfer window. You can't have it all.

There's a lack of depth pretty much everywhere except centre-back and the left-wing, where the squad actually has too much, if anything. But there are no natural right-forwards, only one fit centre-forward, one fit right-back and no defensive midfielder.

Not a defensive midfielder who will play, anyway. Wataru Endo does exist but Liverpool leaving him out of their UEFA Champions League squad is a sign that Andoni Iraola isn't going to play him this season.
