Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tuesday that Tehran would defend its borders and interests but was not seeking to expand the war.
"We also defend our own limits and boundaries, but we are not seeking to expand the war or that we want to continue the war," he said during remarks at an official ceremony in Tehran.
Pezeshkian also stressed the importance of strengthening society internally to prevent external threats and interference.
"We must strive, in these circumstances, to create a society in which the enemy does not become tempted to infiltrate to tear apart and destroy our social fabric," he said.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Tuesday "there's been progress made" in talks with Iran and Oman on the Strait of Hormuz, but that no final agreement has yet been reached.
