Chasing a paltry target of 57 after bowling out Australia for 284, Mominul Haque (30 not out) and Shadman Islam (25no) saw the tourists home before tea on the fourth day.
Cameron Green scored a century to ensure that Bangladesh had to bat again, but in truth there is little to celebrate for an Australian side who clearly underestimated their opponents.
Captain Pat Cummins, however, stood by his team's preparation for the Test, instead lauding the Bangladeshi performance and ruing his side's lack of penetration with the ball.
