Live Show 2 - 9 Aug: Martins and Mercedes leave the house - BBNaija
The Big Brother Naija 'Show Ya Sef' house held its first eviction ceremony, resulting in the departure of housemates Martins and Mercedes. The episode also featured the announcement of Chimsom Chuka as the first Most Influential Person of the Week.
Why it matters
Big Brother Naija is a major cultural phenomenon in Nigeria with significant viewership and social media engagement.
The Big Brother Naija Show Ya Sef house witnessed its first set of evictions of the season: Martins left first, but Mercedes' exit was one that stunned the housemates so much it lingered even after the live show.
The live eviction show began with Ebuka looking back on week two in the house, spotlighting their wager task preparation and presentation. Then came a house crossing where Ebuka put HoH Sheba on the hot seat. Sheba was questioned about her time as HoH, her emotional outbursts, and how she found the experience as a whole — in her own words, being head of house comes with "a lot of pressure."
