The two men killed in Wednesday’s mass shooting at a Minneapolis apartment building were both neighbors of the suspected shooter who lived on the same floor, investigators said on Thursday.
The men were identified as Dale Henry Spry, 63, and Muse Abdi Afrah, 61, both residents of the Shoreline Plaza building where suspected shooter Carlton Neal Johnson II, 35. Drew Evans, superintendent of the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, said Johnson died in an exchange of gunfire with police officers.
Two police officers were shot and injured at the scene. They have been identified as Joseph Michnowski and Yayhe Ahmed. Both remained hospitalized Thursday in stable condition. Three other people were also injured. Evans said the first person shot was a woman who had been in a relationship with Johnson; she was shot in the leg. Evans said Johnson then shot two people who worked in the building.
