Live pangolin found hidden in man’s bag at border
A 27-year-old man was arrested at the South African border after being found in possession of a live pangolin. He is currently in custody and awaiting a formal bail application following his appearance in the Phalala Magistrate’s Court.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of a live pangolin while crossing the Limpopo River into South Africa.
The man, identified as Tholego Gaebolae, was also arrested for allegedly contravening the Immigration Act 13 of 2002.
According to police, members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) were conducting routine patrols along the Limpopo River near the Groblersbrug Border Post at about 7.30pm on Wednesday, August 26, when they spotted a man crossing the river into South Africa.
