Live NRL: Warriors v Rabbitohs at Accor Stadium
The New Zealand Warriors defeated the South Sydney Rabbitohs 45-26 in a high-scoring NRL match. A late field goal and a strong team performance helped the Warriors move to the top of the league ladder.
Why it matters
The result significantly impacts the NRL standings, showcasing the Warriors' potential as title contenders this season.
Rookie five-eighth Luke Hanson has slotted a last-minute field goal to put NZ Warriors atop the NRL table with a 45-26 win over the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Sydney.
With one eye on the scoreboard and the other on the points-differential column of the ladder, the visitors almost lost their way in a contest they were in complete control of at halftime on Saturday, but gathered themselves with a late rally for a convincing victory.
A fast start, with tries to skipper James Fisher-Harris and centre Leka Halasima, put the Warriors 12-0 ahead in the opening 10 minutes, and while Souths grabbed a couple of first-half tries, they were unable to stem the onslaught, as co-skipper Mitch Barnett and halfback Chanel Harris-Tavita scored tries before the break.
