LIST: Eight Mitooma senior staff interdicted after Minister Balaam's visit

Eight senior staff members in Uganda's Mitooma District have been interdicted following a visit by the Minister for Local Government, Balaam Barugahara. The suspensions are part of an anti-corruption investigation into allegations of incompetence and mismanagement.

President Museveni appointed Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi as Minister for Local Government. He previously served as State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs before being switched to head the Local Government ministry from May 2026-2031.
Eight senior staff of Mitooma District have been interdicted following a visit by the Local Government Minister, Mr Balaam Barugahara, over numerous allegations of corruption and incompetence in the area.
On Saturday, August 8th, Mitooma District Chief Administrative Officer, Mr Masereka Amis Asuman, submitted a list of the affected staff to the Permanent Staff of the Ministry of Local Government, notifying them of the decision.
The affected staff include: Dr Sadic Byamugisha, the District Health Officer; Barungi Peace Gloria, the District Education Officer; Eng Godfrey Tumusiime, the Civil Engineer (Water); and Godwin Kagumir, the Senior Environment Officer.
