BLACKPINK ‘s members have stayed private about their love lives for as long as they’ve been making music, and in her new documentary, LISA explained why.
At one point in Always Lalisa — which is set to premiere soon at the Toronto International Film Festival — the Thai performer opened up about the restrictions K-pop culture places on idols when it comes to romance. “In K-pop culture, we can't date,” she said, according to a report by Toronto Star published Thursday (Sept. 3). "If you're seeing someone and you get caught by paparazzi, your popularity drops.”
“When I was younger, I had a few relationships, but we had to hide when we're dating,” she continued. “I didn't want my dating to be the thing that hurts BLACKPINK’s popularity."
